Checking and changing your Shopify plan
A short walk-through so you are not paying for more than your shop needs.
Hi Alexis! We are going to look at which Shopify plan you are on and switch you to the right one. If anything on your screen looks different from these steps, just stop and tell Jaycee what you see and she will guide you. You are the owner of the store, so you have every right to do this. Nobody else needs to approve it.
Before you start, have these ready
- Your Shopify email and password (the email and password you use to log in to Shopify)
- A computer if you have one. Your phone works too, and the phone steps are near the bottom.
See which plan you are on now
This is the most important step. We need to know exactly what you are paying for before we change anything.
- Go to
admin.shopify.comand log in. (Shortcut straight to your store:admin.shopify.com/store/witchs-view-2) - Look at the bottom left corner for
Settings. It has a little gear icon. Click it. - In the menu that opens, click
Plan. - At the top of that page it shows your plan name and price. It will say one of these words: Basic, Grow, Advanced, or Plus.
- Read that plan name and price out loud to Jaycee.
My plan name:What it says I pay:
Jaycee will tell you the next move based on what it says. If you are already on the lowest plan that keeps your website store working, she may have you check one other thing instead of switching. Either way, she will guide you.
Change your plan — only if Jaycee tells you to
- You should still be on the
Settings › Planpage from Part 1. - Click the button that says
Change plan. (It might sayChoose planorSelect plan.) - You will see the list of plans. Find the one Jaycee told you to pick and click its
Selectbutton. For most cases that is Select Basic. - When it asks how you want to pay, choose Monthly (unless Jaycee says otherwise).
- It shows a short summary of the charge. Read it so you know what to expect.
- Click
Subscribeto finish. That is it, you are done.
Do not choose the plan called Starter ($5). It is the cheapest one on the list, but it turns your website store off, so shop.witchsview.com would stop working and customers could not buy from your site.
Only pick the plan Jaycee tells you, which will be Basic or higher. If you are ever unsure, stop and ask her before clicking.
What to expect after
- Your price may not drop that same day. Shopify already charged you for this month, so the lower price starts on your next billing date. You keep everything you have now until then. This is normal, nothing went wrong.
- Nothing on your website changes. Your products, photos, orders, custom look, and web address all stay exactly the same.
- If you paid extra this month, Shopify puts it as a credit toward your next bill instead of mailing money back. Also normal.
Doing it on your phone instead
If you are using the Shopify app on your phone:
- Open the Shopify app and log in.
- Tap the menu button (the three lines, usually bottom right).
- Tap
Settings. - Under Store settings, tap
Plan. This shows your current plan (that is Part 1). - To change it: tap
Change plan, tapSelecton the plan Jaycee tells you, choose Monthly, review, and tapSubscribe.
Same rule on the phone: do not pick Starter.
